Dear alumni,
We have put on our Web site 73 photos on the recent visit by the PKU Delegation
(including President Zhihong Xu) to LA. For those of you who didn't get a chance
to participate in some or all the events then, you can get some feelings about
the visit by taking a quick a look at the photos (and being patient while they
being downloaded).

PKU's Recent Structural Changes:
Recently, Beida has split and will continue to split some old departments to
form several new schools:
1) A combination of Physics Department, part of Technical Physics Department,
part of Geophysics Department, and Astronomy Department has become the School of
Physical Science. The remaining part of Technical Physics Department has merged
with the School of Chemical Science and Technology;
2) Part of Geophysics Department, Geology Department, and part of Department of
City and Environment, Center for Environment Study will form the School of
Geo-science;
3) Part of Department of City and Environment, and Department of Political
Science will form the School of Public Management;
4) The School of News and Mass Media will form very soon;
5) It's possible that Department of Electronics, Department of Computer Science,
and Center for Information Study will form the School of Engineering.

2001 Performance by LA Chinese Chorus
The Los Angeles Chinese Chorus (He2 Chang4 Tuan2) was established in
August 1997 by successful artists and business entrepreneurs Jackson Wen
and Sophia Li. It has over 40 performers who are systematically trained by
professionals every week for the last four years.
On Saturday June 30, 2001, the Chorus will present a grand performance
featuring over 20 songs which include Chinese popular songs, minority
cultural songs, and western opera songs. You will have a chance to enjoy
many familiar songs presented in an extraordinary artistic level and rich
varieties.
