PUAASC Job Service
posted on Apr 23 2003

Dear Alumni,

In the current cold job market, some of our alumni members are working very

hard to find their jobs or internships. At the same time, we have another

important asset, many working alumni, who may have valuable information on the

recent job openings in their companies and be willing to share with other

alumni. To build a bridge between the two groups, PUAASC is planning to

establish an information exchange service. Particularly, we'll create a

specific e-mail address, job@pku.org, for the purpose of information

collection. Then we will edit the information and promptly send to all alumni

through our email list. Detailed instructions of using the service are listed

below. For simplicity and clarity, we will define alumni who are currently

working as "Working Alumni" and those who are looking for a job as "Job

Seekers". Please be aware that there are some different instructions on the two

groups.

Working Alumni

First, we highly appreciate your efforts to provide job opportunities in your

company to other alumni. Many job openings are initially accessible only by

employees and most of them are filled through employee recommendation and

reference before they are posted to the outside. Early access to the job info

will be definitely very useful to our job-seeking alumni.

There are two ways for Working Alumni to provide their help. First, you can

send the job openings and your contact info to the email address job@pku.org.

If some alumni find the jobs fit for them, they can contact with you directly

to introduce them and get more info. If you want, you can recommend them to

your companies. Second, you may just send the job openings to us and the alumni

can use the contact info in the openings to directly apply. Both ways are

welcome and totally up to your choice.

Job Seekers

We sincerely hope the new service can provide additional opportunities to you

and look forward to hear your success. Using this service, you can introduce

yourself to about 500 alumni in the Southern California. Since our email list

cannot accept email attachment, please do not send your resume directly to us.

You may use one or two paragraphs to briefly introduce your education

background, working experience, technical skills, and job preference. You can

choose whether or not to post your contact info.

Privacy Concern

This service is used solely to facilitate the information sharing between

Working Alumni and Job Seekers. Alumni privacy is highly respected for both

parties. As you may see from the above introductions, it is completely your

choice of whether or not letting others know your personal contact info.

PUAASC has designated two responsible alumni volunteers to conduct the service

under the supervision of the Executive Committee. Their responsibilities are

reading messages that alumni send to job@pku.org, sending job information

exchange newsletters via e-mails, and facilitating anonymous communications

between job seekers and job information providers.

This service is still at the beginning period. Any suggestion or recommendation

from you is highly welcome, and you can address it to us by replying to this

message.

Let us work together to help our alumni and build an excellent alumni

association.

Best regards,

PUAASC
