Subject: Joint Call for SARS Fund by 12 PKU Alumni Associations in US
Dear Peking University Alumni,
As leaders of Peking University Education Foundation (USA) and 12 Peking
University alumni associations in the US, we are united in calling for all
alumni in the US to do your best in helping our Alma Mater to fight the deadly
SARS disease that has threaten the health, normal life, study and research of
Peking University students and teachers.
As you know, Peking University Medical School, Peking University biological
research labs, and six hospitals that belong to Peking University are on the
front line of the SARS fight. They need our help and support.
On April 30, 2003, Peking University Presidents Prof. Min Weifang and Prof. Xu
Zhihong wrote a letter (see http://www.pku.org.cn/xyh/to all Peking
University alumni all over the world to report University's SARS fighting
status and thank for alumni's understanding, care, and support. On the same
day, Peking University Education Foundation (China) established "Peking
University Fight SARS Fund". On May 1, 2003, Peking University Education
Foundation (USA) sent " Call for Donation to SARS Fund " letters in English and
Chinese (see http://www.pkuf.org/Contactus.htmthrough alumni associations to
Peking University alumni. Every dollar you donate will contribute to the lives
saved and the eventual defeat of the common enemy of humankind.
This May 4 is the Peking University's 105th anniversary. Our Alma Mater is
facing one of most severe challenges in her proud history. On this May 4,
although some alumni associations are unable to hold their annual alumni
gatherings, let's join our hands together through contributions to the "Peking
University Fight SARS Fund" and give our students and teachers and medical
staff in Peking University much needed moral and material support!
Please act now. Your donation check should be payable to "Peking University
Education Foundation (USA)" with comments "Fight SARS Fund", and mail to PKUEF
(USA) or your local alumni association (see addresses below).
Wish all fellow alumni a happy and meaningful May 4!
