Report on Anti-SARS Special Fund Raising to Beida Hospitals
posted on May 26 2003

Dear Alumni,

Since the Peking University Education Foundation (USA)'s call for donation for

the Anti-SARS Special Fund Raising for Beida Hospitals, PUAASC and BUMAASC

joined the other 10 Peking University Alumni Associations in the US to promote

this charitable activity. We are glad to announce that we have so far received

donations from 20 alumni/families with a total of $3,330.00 (see donors list

below). According to PKUEF (USA)'s request, the donation checks we collected

will be sent to the office of PKUEF (USA) on Monday, May 26. We will expect to

receive donation receipts and appreciation letters from PKUEF (USA) upon their

reception of the checks and we will forward to individual donors shortly after.

If you would like to make more donations, please do it within this month and

send your check directly to PKUEF (USA) (see

http://www.pkuf.org/Contactus.htm).

PKUEF (USA) has already delivered medical suits and compensation for the

front-line medical staff to Peking University Medical School and six hospitals

affiliated with PKU administration. The medical staff have expressed their

satisfaction and appreciation. Please see the interim summary report from PKUEF

(USA) below for details.

PUAASC thanks all alumni and families who participated in this fund raising and

also thanks for those who participated in similar activities organized by other

organizations. We are happy to see that SARS is apparently under control in

China and we expect Peking University will resume all of its normal educational

activities in the near future.

PUAASC will also plan to resume alumni activities in the near future. We are

planning the second Beida, Tsinghua, Jiao Da alumni gathering in Irvine on June

28. Three Beida alumni in Irvine James Wang, Zhi-An Lai, and Yunhong Liu are

representing PUAASC in planning and preparation. We expect this event will be

well-organized and provide our alumni networking opportunity and fun

activities. Details of the event will be announced shortly.

Best wishes,

PUAASC
