Call For Donation to Murdered Alumnus' Family
posted on Nov 25 2001

Dear Alumni and Friends,

On 11/7 we aired the heartbreaking news about the Yang couple's murder in

Arizona that happened a little more than two weeks ago. PUAASC has been watching

the situation closely ever since. Currently the Tucson police have speeded up

the investigation after the visit by a Chinese Consular from Los Angeles. we

have been notified by the CSSA at the University of Arizona that the couple's

three family members (including Mr. Yang's father) will arrive in Tucson this

coming Thursday. The funeral is planned on this coming Saturday organized by the

couple's church.

Sina news reported that the prime suspect of the murder is a Chinese who knows

the couple well and has disappeared from Tucson. A reliable source from our

alumni reported that the couple were attempting to help this individual with his

personal/family problem before the murder. None of these has been confirmed by

the Tucson police. You can visit

http://www.chinapressusa.com/20011119/sh/mg1.htm

for a report in Chinese.

The donation campaign for taking care of the Yang couple's daughter, Xiao Xue,

has already begun, organized by the couple's church and the CSSA at UA. However,

considering the funeral cost and the travel expenses for their family members

(both Yangs' families are poor peasants in Fujian Province), PUAASC has decided

to call for donation to establish an education fund for Xiao Xue's education. We

would like to urge you to extend your hands to help the ill-fated six-year-old

girl (who has the horrible experience of seeing her parents in blood after waking

up in one morning). Every dollar you donate will go to Xiao Xue's education fund

unless the donor gives specific instruction how his/her money should be used.

Please make your check payable to "PUAASC" and write "Donation for Yang" on it.

Our mailing address is:

PUAASC

3109 S. Oakhurst Ave.

Los Angeles, CA 90034

We'll announce the names of the donors at an appropriate time.

(Note: If you do NOT want your name to be disclosed, please clearly state so in

your letter.)

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us Sikun

Lan at sikun@yahoo.com or Feng Zeng at fzengsm@yahoo.com.

Xiao Xue needs your help. Together we can make her a better future.

Best Regards,

PUAASC

P. S.

1) PUAASC and the CSSA at UA are seeking legal advice to guarantee that the

donation money will be solely used for Xiao Xue's education needs. Alumni who

are specialized in laws or know similar cases are encouraged to provide advice.

2) It is not clear yet whether Ms. Chen (the wife) is a PKU alumna. Peking

University has sent a letter to the victims' family members to express their

condolence. The letter will be delivered to the family members via the Chinese

Consulate in Los Angeles.
