The Director Candidates
1) Jingsheng (Jason) Cong
Dr. Cong received his B.S. in Computer Science from Peking University in 1985,
M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Illinois at Urbana-
Champion in 1987 and 1990, respectively. Currently, he is a professor in UCLA,
member of IEEE, guest professor and Chang-Jiang professor in Peking University,
Associate Editor of IEEE Transaction on VLSI Systems, Associate Editor of ACM
Transaction on Design Automation of Electronic Systems, a member of the Board
of Governors of IEEE Circuits and Systems Society. Dr. Cong has published more
than 150 papers.
2) Zhun (Julie) Gao
Julie is a corporate and business transaction attorney in the Los Angeles
office of Latham & Watkins, the largest California-based multinational law firm
with offices in numerous cities in the U.S., Europe and Asia. She received a
LL.B. degree from Peking University Law School in 1991 and a J.D. degree from
UCLA School of Law in 1998. Julie has been actively involved in PUAASC's
activities since 1994. Currently, she is assisting PUAASC in obtaining federal
and state tax exempt status.
3) Limin Han
Limin received a B.S. in Biology from Peking University in 1987 and a Ph.D. in
Biology from UCLA in 1996. Currently he is a management consultant in the most
prestigious consulting firm McKinsey. He served as the President of PUAASC from
1995-1998 and as an advisor to the Board since 1998. The PKU Centennial
Celebration in Southern California achieved great success under his leadership.
He helped organized many major PUAASC events in recent years.
4) Sikun Lan
Sikun studied at Peking University from 1984 to 1989 where he received a
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and a second Bachelor's degree in Physics. He
received a Master's degree and Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from UCLA.
Sikun currently works as a project manager and principal member of technical
staff at Citigroup. He is involved in Citigroup's Internet infrastructure
development and content management.
Sikun joined PUAASC activities in 1991. He served as PUAASC President in 1995
and Vice President in 1999. He was awarded Outstanding Alumni Service Award
from Peking University Alumni Forum in 2001.
5) Richard Lee
Richard received his B.S. in Economy from Peking University in 1985, M.S. in
Economy from Ball State University in 1987, and Ph.D. in Economy from Arizona
University in 1992. After being assistant professor in Gettysberg University
for a year, he founded Amsino International, Inc. in 1993. Currently he is the
Chairman and CEO of the company.
Richard has been an active participant and generous supporter of PUAASC. He has
made numerous donations to Bei Da and PUAASC. More recently, he served in the
Organization Committee and helped to organize a successful funding raising
event for the Peking University Education Foundation (USA). During the event,
he donated $3000 to the foundation.
6) Zheng-su She
Dr. She current works in both Peking University and UCLA. He is a Chang-Jiang
professor in PKU and a professor in Dept. of Mathematics, UCLA, Director of
Chaos and Complex Systems Laboratory and Vice Director of Center for
Theoretical Biology of Peking University. He received a B.S. degree from
Nanjing University in 1982 and a Ph.D. degree from Paris No. 7 University of
France. Dr. She has published more than 60 papers.
Dr. She was a founder of the Chinese Scholar Association and served as its
first President.
7) Lijean Wang
Ms. Wang was one of the founders of the PUAASC and served as 2nd and 3rd
President. She received a B.S. in Chemistry from Peking University in 1963 and
worked as a senior research scientist from 1980 to 1991 in USC. Currently she
is the Chairman of C&J Sci-Tech Corp. The company focuses on technology
transfer between US and China.
She has been a long time adviser to the Board of PUAASC. Her efforts
contributed greatly to the success of the PKU Centennial Celebration in
Southern California. More recently, she served in the Organization Committee
and helped to organize a successful funding raising event for the Peking
University Education Foundation (USA). During the event, she donated $6000 to
the Foundation.
8) Duan-Zhi Wen
Dr. Wen graduated from Dept. of Biochemistry of Peking University with a B.S.
degree. After receiving his Ph.D. degree from University of Washington, he
conducted research in Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Genetech Inc.
Currently he is a senior research scientist in Amgen Inc. and project leader in
several research projects.
Dr. Wen has been a long time supporter to PUAASC. He played an important role
in the PKU's centennial celebration in Southern California. More recently, he
served in the Organization Committee and helped to organize a successful
funding raising event for the Peking University Education Foundation (USA). He
and his wife donated $6400 to the PKU Library.
9) Wenge (Bryan) Xu
Bryan is the founder and CEO of Dot Genesis LLC, a start-up company focusing on
building and operating e-shopping websites. He studied in PKU from 1981 to 1987
and received a B.S. in Physics in 1985 and a M.S. in Astrophysics in 1987. He
also received a Ph.D. in Astronomy from California Institute of Technology in
1995 and a MBA from USC in 2000.
Bryan became actively involved in PUAASC since 1997. He served as a co-chair of
the Organization Committee for PUAASC's celebration for PKU's centennial
anniversary. He serves currently as the (outgoing) President of PUAASC.
10) Feng Zeng
Feng is a doctoral candidate at the RAND Graduate School of Policy Analysis. He
entered PKU's Department of Political Science and Public Administration in 1990
and came to the US in 1995 to pursue graduate degree. Feng has served various
social positions in the US. He was vice-President and President of USC CSSA
from October 1996 to October 1998. He also served as vice president of PUAASC
from May 1999 to Jan 2002. Mr. Zeng is happy to have a chance to continue to
serve PUAASC as a director.
