Updates on PUAASC Donations for the Relief Effort of 5/12 Sichuan Earthquake

Since our last week’s donation request, as of today, May 26, 2008, we have proudly received more than $12,000 donations, pledges and corporate matches. Thank you – PKU alumni and friends; thank you for your generosity and kindness!The latest news on Sichuan Earthquake is that more than 62,000 people have perished, and death toll could reach more than 80,000 according to government estimates, along with thousands injured and homeless. Many schools were leveled or destroyed.

Many of you have inquired on where our donations will be sent to, and after carefully evaluation, we are hereby to report to you that all the Sichuan Earthquake donations will be sent to PKUEF (Peking University Education Foundation USA www.pkuf.org) for the purpose of rebuilding the schools destroyed during the earthquake and the children in the disaster area.

Both PUAASC and PKUEF will NOT charge any overhead on the donations collected, and 100% of the donations will be used for the schools and children. Both PUAASC and PKUEF are non-profit tax-exempt organizations and both are 501(c)(3) organizations. Your donations are fully tax deductible. A summary report on donations will be posted on our website www.pku.org soon.

We are continuing our effort and calling for donations, and it’s never too late to help rebuild schools and to aid children who lost so much in the devastating earthquake in Sichuan. Many corporations offer donation match programs, so please take advantage if your company matches.

Two ways to donate:

1. Send a check payable to “PUAASC- for the relief of Sichuan earthquake”, 927 Victoria Dr, Arcadia, CA 91007. If you would like to have a receipt, please provide an email address for receipt to be emailed to save time and postages.

2. Donate online via Paypal button on our home page now by the link of www.pku.org. Your receipt will be emailed to your email address provided by Paypal.
