Session Summary
Session 1 - Identify Your Potential
An interactive workshop grounded in The Global Instincts MethodTM, incorporating experiential learning to guide clients to discover and express their innate skills through the lens of their personal story. This interactive workshop is not conducted in typical lecture format. You will walk away with a better sense of what to focus on in your job search and with clear and defined next steps going forward.
Session 2 - Hidden Job Market
Explore the following items:
- Career Change - Switch from one industry to another as jobs in some fields are no longer found
- Hidden Job Market - Expand job search to include jobs beyond the generic one
- Less Traditional Ways of Seeking Jobs – networking, social media, contract work, volunteer work
- Mental Tips on Self-Worth and Pride While Job Searching
Session 3 - Interviewing Strategies
The topics of discussion will be:
- Preparing for an interview
- How to sell yourself in an interview
- Case study of Chris Tran in his pursuit for his current job.(strategies involved)
In this presentation the audience will be involved in activities that are fun and interactive.
Speaker Bios
Alex A. Angarita, Esq.
Alex has helped a roster of clients gain acceptance to highly selective programs all over the world. He understands firsthand how to succeed in competitive environments. He holds a JD from
Harvard Law School and an MBA from INSEAD, a top international business school. A contestant on Survivor: Fiji, Alex credits this life-changing experience as the catalyst for his belief that choosing the right career and developing your professional skills should feel like your biggest adventure.
Alex developed the Global Instincts Method through his study of management philosophy, yoga, wilderness training, health and fitness, and martial arts.
Alex's has been featured on The Early Show, Entertainment Tonight, numerous radio broadcasts, Canadian television, and has served as an on-camera host for PrepInteractive and INN.

Wenli Jen, Ed.M.
Wenli is a nonprofit program director and educational consultant for college and career counseling. She is interested in effective prevention practices, learning, motivation, resiliency, and how these intersect with identity, social and emotional development.
As a second generation Chinese-American, she provides academic and career support to youth and adults. Jen is a contributing writer for the San Gabriel Valley Business Journal, and continues to work with local chambers of commerce and Work Source groups to encourage civic participation and economic growth through professional development, leadership and training. Jen sits on several advisory and steering committees including the El Monte Rosemead Adult School Career and Technical Education advisory board, and the Business Advisory Council for the Central San Gabriel Valley Work Source Center. In addition, she has presented at various international, national, state-wide and local conferences related to topics and research including online social networking, Asian American mental health, community collaborations, prevention programs, and education.
Jen is currently working on her doctorate in educational psychology and educational leadership at
USC after receiving her bachelor’s degree from UCI and her master's in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University.
Vu H. Pham, Ph.D.
As a Partner of Spectrum Knowledge, Inc., Vu works with dozens of organizations from the
Fortune 500 to governmental and non-profit agencies to boost employee performance and strategic effectiveness. He conducts interactive training and data-driven research to achieve these results. He also currently serves as a Researcher at the Center for Research on Employment and the Workforce (CREW) at California State University—Fullerton, as well as an instructor at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Dr. Pham and his work have been featured on national and international multimedia venues, such as
CNN, MSNBC, the Associated Press, Voice of America, The Los Angeles Times, KSCI International Television, Strategic Innovators, Asia in Play, Asian Week, Radio Free Asia and The Orange County Register. He has given keynote speeches on numerous occasions and presented at many conferences internationally, and has written for both academic and mainstream publications.
Chris Tran
Chris was born, raised and resides in Southern California. He graduated with a BA in International Relations from the
University of California, Irvine. While in college he was appointed to the position of public relations and business development for his father’s business, Harbor Auto Center, located in Garden Grove, California. After earning his degree, Chris went on to pursue his own entrepreneurial ventures within the automotive and seasonal industries.
Today, he proudly serves as an executive board member for the Vietnamese American Chamber of Commerce (VACOC) of Orange County and is a Territory Manager for Patterson Dental.
