Dear Alumni,
During the seminar on Sept. 21, Prof. Jiang Zhenying, General
Secretary of Chinese Scholar Association, answered a lot of
questions about the PUAASC/CSA/CAST-LA members attending the
Fifth Guangzhou Convention of Overseas Chinese Scholars in
Science and Technology on December 28-30, 2002. Prof. Jiang
encouraged audience to take the opportunity to meet people and
exchange ideas in Guangzhou. From his previous experiences, the
three day event would often bring unexpected opportunities to
attendees immediately or in the future. He said almost all
applicants from Southern California would be accepted within 10
days after they filed their application (in Chinese or English)
from the conference Web site (http://www.ocs-gz.gov.cnor sent
the application forms via fax (8620-82227663) or e-mail
(ocs-gz@ocs-gz.gov.cn).
A copy of the application is also available at
http://pku.org/appendix/Guangzhou-form.doc . The Convention
provided free hotel and meals during the Convention, and
discount service for their family members. Some attendees may be
invited by other attending companies to visit other cities. In
that case, all travel expenses will be covered by these
companies. Attendees are responsible for their air tickets to
Guangzhou in general.
Although the application deadline is December 10, 2002, PUAASC
advises alumni to file applications in October so that you can
have enough time to purchase air tickets after receiving the
confirmation. After you obtained the confirmation and purchased
tickets, please notify PUAASC VP Mr. Yang, Lihong
(lihongya@usc.edu, 323-733-7685). The Southern California group
will meet in advance for getting-to-know each other and planning
other activities before or after the Convention.
If you have any questions, please be free to ask Mr. Yang.
Best wishes,
PUAASC
